Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe

Mercedes-AMG   has secured the fastest lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife for an 'executive class' car with its   GT 4-Door Coupé .  Secured with a 2021-model-year GT 63 S 4Matic+ driven by AMG development engineer Demian Schaffert, a time of 7min 27.80sec for the complete lap has been officially recognised by the track.  The time beats the previous segment record of 7:29.81 set by Stuttgart rival Porsche with a Panamera Turbo S earlier this year. It also beats the previous lap time set by a GT 4-Door Coupé (again driven by Schaffert) in 2018 by 2.3sec.  The 2021 version of the 630bhp GT 63 S, which has been in production since September, is claimed to feature subtle tweaks to the chassis and other fine-tuning measures. The car used in the record was standard aside from being fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, the optional aero package and bucket seats with a four-point harness for safety. Mercedes c...

Mini Cooper S 5-Door Hatch

Hình ảnh
It seems the interior of your car is as much a statement these days as the exterior. Vegan trims and touchscreens visible from space are the modern touch, but this special-edition   Mini 5-Door Hatch   Resolute takes a different tack and adds retro-styled cloth seats - the second new car in a week I’ve been in with 1960s-style fabric. But unlike the limited-edition, and hugely expensive, Porsche 911 Sport Classic, this Mini is not a museum-destined rarity. It’s part of Mini’s new range of specials, the other being a Countryman Untamed. (A Clubman Untold was also announced, but due to supplier issues, it’s not currently on sale.) In fact, talking of shortages, this test car is a manual (and a lovely one at that) and you can’t currently buy one of these, either. Only the dual-clutch and auto are available. Mini tells us the manual will return when the crisis eases. So, for £25,601 (just under £1000 more than...

More Powerful 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Hình ảnh
The   2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer   is the first under the Stellantis family of vehicles to get the company's new 3.0-liter I-6 engine dubbed the "Hurricane," available in new standard- and high-output configurations. We've already learned the new hi-po Hurricane engine option will be   a $2,000 premium over the standard 6.4-liter V-8   Hemi on regular-wheelbase Grand Wagoneers (it's   standard on the long-wheelbase L versions   that arrive for the 2023 model year), but that premium cost is supposed to come with new fuel efficiency gains, which the EPA has now announced. The rear-wheel drive, high-output 3.0-liter I-6 equipped 2022 Grand Wagoneer is rated at 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined, compared to the 6.4-liter's 13 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 15 mpg combined, according to the  fueleconomy.gov  website. A measly 1-2 miles per gallon better here or there doesn't sound like a lot, but remember that the new high-output ver...

Trio of Famous ’90s-Style Hot Rods Shows

Hình ảnh
When Smooth Ruled In the '70s, street rods experienced a revival in popularity after being knocked out of the spotlight during the muscle car era. That revival came with a change. The prominent rod builders of the late 20th century were not building early roadsters and coupes in the traditional styles of earlier years but rather in a modern style characterized by high-tech chassis with independent front and rear suspensions, extensive use of hand built components (with an abundance of billet aluminum), reshaped bodies, and the elimination of emblems and trim. The result was a super-clean, streamlined style that almost instantly became known as "smooth."
